Rudra shoots ahead in the bean stakes

Durban - With mere days away till Africa's Greatest Horseracing Event the 2010 Vodacom Durban July, the talk of the town is which of the twenty main race runners should get your bet and according to the sprouting beans that horse is Rudra.

Each year twenty beans are grown in individual pots labelled with a particular horse in mind and are closely followed on growth and strength in the weeks running up to raceday.

In the past few days the Mike de Kock trained Rudra has blossomed himself into the lead, overtaking early leaders Fabiani and Happy Valley who were out of the stalls first at the Gallops earlier this month.

The current favourite Irish Flame was on offer at odds of 4/1 after the gallops, with Bold Silvano, River Jetez, Fort Vogue and 2008 champ Pocket Power attracting support from the punters.

The Vodacom Durban July takes place at Greyville Racecourse on Saturday, 31 July 2010. More information can be found at www.vodacomdurbanjuly.co.za
